Mexican Handmade Ceramic Skull Sculpture Collection Made in Limited Editions
By Omar Hernández
Located in Queretaro, Queretaro
"As a Mexican and Oaxacan, but more as Omar, I see death as something present. It´s something that is a part of life and when you think about death, you begin to value a lot of things. Death is important to me because it’s a constant threat. If you think about dying now, you would probably do things that in another moment you would say, “I’ll do it later.” I see death as an opportunity to live a better life...a continuation of something," says Mexican ceramist Omar Hernández.
Omar Hernandez is a Mexican ceramist born and raised in Oaxaca, Mexico. As a child, growing up in a family of potters he didn't have much interest in making pottery, but in his early 20's he realized he could do other things with clay that weren't necessarily utilitarian pieces. It was then that Omar started his skull...

Mexican Folk Art Wood Carving Traditional Dance Handmade Alebrije One of a Kind
By Ruby Fabian, Manuel Cruz Prudencio
Located in Queretaro, Queretaro
The young dancers wear an armor of threads over their bodies, showing off an ancient indigenous art form. Colorful thread combinations characterize the huipil dress, a rectangle of cloth handwoven on a backstrap loom that dates back thousands of years in used in Zapotec culture. Through symbols in their dresses, Zapotec women wear their identity, history, culture, power, social and marital status, religion, personality, and power.
In this folkloric dance, “Flor de Piña” (Pineapple Flower), innocence surrounds young girls as they dance and hold pineapples on their shoulders as an offering. Their long braids represent purity and their bare feet symbolize their connection to the Earth.
This folkloric dance is part of the “Guelaguetza” (name in the indigenous Zapotec language) Festival Celebration. Since pre-hispanic times, the indigenous people of Oaxaca have honored the goddess of maize with this festival, performing and offering gifts to ensure a good harvest.
Husband and wife, master woodcarver Manuel Cruz and wood painter...

Handmade Mexican Contemporary Conacaste Solid Wood & Natural Fiber Dinning Chair
By Estrella Mora Zamorano
Located in Queretaro, Queretaro
Mexican architect Estrella Zamorano's collection "was born with the intention of returning the identity of Mexico's history to design, creating links between artisans and designers, so that working together we can weave a future respectful of ancestral techniques, as well as being an engine for the economic development of the communities that continue to work in an artisanal way," as she mentions in the interview.
This fresh chair is crafted using high end solid conacaste wood (Enterolobium cyclocarpum) also known as Parota wood. The seat is woven with a vegetable fiber called "Chuspata" which grows around the lake of Patzcuaro and is characterized by its durability and beauty. By partnering with local communities in Michoacan, Mexico, Estrella collaborates with artisans from Ihuatzio and Cuanajo to create a durable, contemporary, and resistant beach house chair...
