Adrien Dupagne Art
Adrien Dupagne was a painter, watercolorist and illustrator. He was the son of a master roofer, a companion who goes around Europe. He was the pupil of Adrien de Witte, Oscar Berchmans and Évariste Carpentier at the Academy of Fine Arts in Liège. Dupagne graduated as a sculptor in 1910 and was noted as an excellent designer. He followed the advice of his teachers and learned about painting. In 1912, Dupagne was in London and worked as a sculptor on the decoration of the Titanic, in 1913 he was in Paris, where he visited regularly, attending the Paris school he loved. Dupagne rented workshops, exhibited at the Indépendants and the Salon d'Automne. Friend of Julius Pincas, known as Pascin and of Maurice de Vlaminck. He also exhibited at the Venice Biennale in 1924 and London. In 1928, he presented at the Salon d'Automne the canvas My model. Dupagne was noticed by critics and already sold his works well. He exhibited successively at Devambez , Berheim Jeune , Georges Aubry. A great traveler, Dupagne visited the whole of Europe, as well as the Middle East, North Africa and stayed in Oregon at the age of 65, from where he brought back numerous drawings, watercolors and paintings, witnesses of the life of the countries visited. Dupagne was particularly fond of Spain. A very cultivated, passionate, instinctive man (La CitéNovember 19, 1970 Fernand Bree), his work is very important. Dupagne works are exhibited in museums in Brussels, Antwerp, Liège and he also exhibited in Riga during his lifetime.
