Angelica Bergamini Abstract Sculptures

Italian

Angelica Bergamini is an Italian born New York-based artist. She spent academic years in Spain at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Granada and the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid and graduated with honors in painting from the Fine Academy of Art in Florence, Italy. Since 2006 she has been studying color psychology. Bergamini’s work explores the relationship between the personal and collective unconscious, generating a porosity between aesthetic and ethical values. Cross-cultural studies and interest for philosophy also guide a great part of her creation which manifests through painting and paper-cuts assemblages, video and sculptural installations. In 2012, she was commissioned by the Hyatt Union Square in New York, a site-specific art project, and in 2015, her collaboration with Italian writer Chicca Gagliardo was presented at the Turin International Book Fair. Her works have been part of collective shows in New York (Tanja Grunert Gallery, White Box, and BRIC Arts Media), Los Angeles (Torrance Art Museum), London (Chelsea Space), Paris (Galerie Arnaud Lefebvre), Stockholm (Färgfabriken), Milan (Pari Dispari) and in Hong Kong (Kwai Fung Hin Art Gallery). And part of private collections in the USA, Europe, China and Israel. Her most recent solo show was at the Ivy Brown Gallery in New York City. She is currently working on a video series based on the animation of her mixed media on paper, and her latest video will be screened at the 55th Pesaro International Film Festival of New Cinema in Italy in June. She currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.

STATEMENT In site-specific exhibitions, public art commissions, collaborative and individual projects Jo Yarrington has used varied combinations of glass, waxed surfaces, found artifacts and experimental analog photography to investigate the way we perceive – searching for, experimenting with and developing throughout a sensory-based vernacular. Her mostly translucent materials function as physical framework and symbolic membrane. Light, both natural and ambient, provides a kinetic or time-based element to her work. Scale and the integration of architecture are also pivotal components. In the 6-part installation for the two-person exhibition Illuminated, Yarrington continues her interest in the connections between vision, sound and language. In Mute-ability: Compositions 1 – 6, her title for this light-based comprehensive work, she combines the words mute and malleability. The work focuses on found piano rolls, a music storage medium, originally conceived as coded notations or ‘note control data’ for music produced in pneumatic player pianos...

Miniature Boat at Abstract Sculptural Sea. Mixed Media Wall Sculpture, 2024
By Vera Vizzi
Located in FISTERRA, ES
This evocative wall sculpture by Vera Vizzi, titled VITA, forms part of the artist’s ongoing exploration of maritime themes and human vulnerability. Crafted in mixed media on reclaimed wood, the piece presents a poetic seascape made of three stacked wooden blocks, each painted in shifting shades of deep blue and stormy grey to evoke a layered oceanic horizon. Atop the highest block sits a delicate miniature boat with small figures, amplifying the sense of fragility and scale. The composition recalls coastal environments and states of emotional suspension—between movement and stillness, presence and absence. The textured surfaces and chromatic modulation suggest tides, foam, and sediment, while the figurative element introduces a narrative of journey, survival, or return. Like much of Vizzi’s work, VITA resonates with themes of resilience, the pull of memory, and our longing for connection with the sea. This one-of-a-kind sculpture belongs to the artist’s new 2024 collection and is ready to hang. Ideal for collectors interested in contemporary marine art, mixed media assemblage, or metaphorical sculpture.
