Anke Schofield Photography
American
Anke Schofield was born in Ithaca, New York in 1972 and apprenticed as a professional photographer assistant when she was still in the eighth grade. Her father introduced her to the wonders of the camera early in life. Anke took to the form readily and with enthusiasm. During high school, she studied and apprenticed with a number of artists in the New York area. She was awarded a Scholarship to the Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia, where she earned a BFA in fine art. Throughout this period, Anke pursued her studies in color theory and painting, finding these endeavors to be greater creative stimuli and inspiration than she had experienced with her photographic work. Anke enjoys the interactions of materials and creating graphic compositions with unexpected outcomes. To her, there is no deeper meaning than the art experiment itself. Anke has been working as a professional in the fine art field in Atlanta, Georgia.
“My work is inspired photographically, but I take it beyond the ordinary representation to create a harmonious blend of texture with composition”to

WHAT IS A CYANOTYPE?
cyan = blue
type = print
Cyanotype is a historic photographic processes, invented in 1842 and used by Anna Atkins–the first female photographer. The process involves coating watercolor paper with light-sensitive chemistry made of iron salts. Photographic negatives are laid on top, exposed in the sunlight, and then washed in water to develop into the deep Prussian-blue unique to cyanotypes. Brings a moment of beauty and conversation to any space.

Encaustic Image -- Drag

This print uses relief printmaking, inkjet and encaustic on lauan panel. A child drags burgundy threads across a turquoise encaustic background. Centered above is a creature, perhaps a sea urchin, in orange, brown and sea green. The effect is that of a dreamscape. This piece is unframed.

Encaustic Print -- Ascend
By Mariana Depetris
Located in Troy, NY
This mixed media artwork combines wood print, serigraph, inkjet, letterpress and encaustic on paper. This compelling piece shows a young girl dressed in blue pulling a terra-cotta colored sphere larger than she is. Despite its simplicity, this work alludes to the complexity of growing up as a female. Text is scattered throughout the piece; it is sold unframed.

The character of Magdalena Peszkowska's works Series Stand is like an poetic archive of memories, which call for a classification and reconstruction of the time of childhood and the intense experience of time with everything around it. Gdansk - where the artist comes from - becomes a mythical place, This city, with a very strong symbolic potential inherent in its history, needs editing from a single point of view. Magdalena Peszkowska uses her own photos or those from the family album. She transfers them to gray field blankets and camp beds with her own secret technology Then she paints on the used objects. Many of her objects show figures from the closest circle of Peszkowska, often it is herself, her family or places close to her in Gdansk. Her objects have intentional signs of use.
