Anna Richards Brewster Landscape Paintings

American, 1870-1952
Anna Richards Brewster (1870–1952) was an accomplished American artist born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her artistic lineage included a poet-playwright mother and a landscape painter father. She studied at Cowles Art School in Boston and under William Merritt Chase and John LaFarge in New York. Notably, she won the Dodge Prize from the National Academy in 1890. Brewster's creative journey led her to Europe, where she painted alongside her father and studied in Paris. Settling in London in 1896, she exhibited at the Royal Academy and illustrated various publications. In 1905, she married and traveled extensively with her husband, further inspiring her art. Despite personal tragedy, including the loss of her son, Brewster continued to contribute to the artistic community. She was a founding member of the Scarsdale Art Association and created notable commissions, including a Red Cross poster during WWI. Brewster's legacy was revived posthumously, with exhibitions at prestigious institutions and growing interest in her work. She passed away in 1952, leaving a diverse body of art encompassing paintings, sculptures, and illustrations. Today, her contributions to late Victorian and early 20th-century art, particularly as a successful international woman artist, continue to gain appreciation and recognition.

"Shoshone Canyon, West of Cody, " Oil Painting
Located in Denver, CO
C.W. Mundy's "Shoshone Canyon, West of Cody" is an original, handmade oil painting that depicts the rocky terrain and foliage in an impressionistic landscape. About the Artist: C.W. Mundy, an American impressionist, was born in 1945 and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. He graduated with a B.F.A. from Ball State University, in Indiana, in 1969 and then shortly thereafter traveled to California, where he painted, played music, and worked on his M.F.A. at Long Beach State. In 1978, he returned home to Indiana, worked as a sports illustrator for a decade, then in the early 1990s took on the challenge of painting in a more impressionistic style, going out of doors and painting en plein air, from life. This painting style led Mundy to a series of European plein air painting trips, beginning with a trip to France in 1995 and continuing through the present. In 2007, Mundy achieved master status in The American Impressionist Society and in 2003 he was invited to master signature membership in the Oil Painters of America. He is also a signature member of the American Society of Marine Artists. His work is in select public collections including the Art Museum of Grater Lafayette in Lafayette, Indiana; the National Art Museum of Sport in Indianapolis, Indiana, and the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame in New Castle Indiana...

Coming In & Going Out ( Plein Air Landscape painting green yellow colors)
By Jane Chapin
Located in Cody, WY
This is a 'Plein Air" landscape Painting by Jane Chapin as seen in the viewing room exhibition on Silas VON MORISSE GALLERY. “Plein-Air” is the French expression to describe the act of painting in situ within the landscape, capturing the ever changing weather and light with tonal qualities, colour, loose brushwork and softness of form... The practice of “Plein Air Painting” goes back for centuries but was truly made into an art form by the French Impressionists such as Claude Monet, Camille Pissarro, Alfred Sisley, and Pierre-Auguste Renoir who were advocating of plein air painting. Much of their work was done outdoors in the diffuse light of a large white umbrella. Another major proponent of Plein Air was Jean Baptiste Camille Corot whom Claude Monet considered as “The only One Master here”. Corot provides a transition from the sharp academic style that ruled in his day with focus on the natural world and the lyrical expressiveness of one's work. With her "Plein Air Paintings", Jane Chapin is part of one of the largest art movements in history. Her paintings carry human emotions. We can read her moods and feelings with places that carry deep remembrances for the artist that go beyond the descriptive. "My paintings grow from observing and interpretating light as it emerges from, surrounds and reflects on everyday people and scenes. They seek to remind us of the beauty of our common surroundings, regardless of where we are." - Jane Chapin Jane Chapin Painting the Land of the Free...
