Antonio Vangelli Figurative Drawings and Watercolors

Antonio Vangelli was an Italian painter and artist. Under his father and his brothers, he began his career in painting in 1938. In 1943, he took part in the IV Quadrenniale of National Art at Palazzo Delle Esposizioni in Rome. He matured in the Roman School from 1943 together with the painters Giulio Turcato and Emilio Vedova. Vangelli's exhibition activity began in 1943 with his participation in the IV Quadrenniale of National Art. In 1948, he was present at the V Quadrenniale of the National Gallery of Modern Art in Rome for the National Review of Figurative Arts. In 1953, he exhibited in Rome at Palazzo Venezia for the Marzotto Prize. In 1961, he exhibited at the Le Jardin des arts art gallery in Rome, in 1965, Vangelli was present at the IX National Quadrennale of Art in Rome at the Palazzo Delle Esposizioni.

This is an original drawing representing a model and showing a very rapid line and a synthetic touch with all the dignity of an autonomous artwork. Antonio Vangelli (1917-2003): Descending from a family of painters, sculptors and architects and son of Emidio Vangelli, Antonio Vangelli was born in Rome in 1917. In the Thirties he joined the artistic environment of the capital where he made his debut with the publication of some drawings in the literary magazines "Lettere Oggi" and "Risorgimento". Take part in the first exhibition organized by the "Free Association of Figurative Arts" in the late thirties. In the years of the second post-war period, his artistic maturity led him to create works inspired by the industrial landscape and in the 1960s he created some decorations on ceramic vases with the casting technique. Mariette Lydis (Vienna 1887 - Buenos Aires 1970) is an Austrian painter and illustrator who was successful in Paris in the 1930s, in Montparnasse and then in Argentina, where she emigrated in 1940. Mariette Lydis was born on 24 August in Vienna, Austria 1887. From 1919 to 1922 she signed her works with the initials MPK for Marietta Pachoffer Karñy, a name derived from her first marriage in 1910 to Julius Koloman Pachoffer-Karñy, who died on 22 April 1922. Subsequently she lived in different cities around Europe, among others: Athens and Florence. She moved to France from 1926 to 1939, during these years she exhibited and became a member of the Salon d'Automne. She befriended Count Giuseppe Govone, the art publisher, in 1928 and married him on 1 August 1934, for whom she illustrated the books of many authors and cultivated a great friendship with Henry de Montherlant, which came about through the publication of a first in 1938 monograph by the author of Les Jeunes Filles. Fearing the German invasion, she travelled to England and then to Buenos Aires in July 1940, where she stayed and published published her latest paintings...
