Bill Tansey Landscape Photography
Bill Tansey was at an art show in 2010 and became mesmerized by a Nicholas De Steal painting. Two years later he closed his business built a house on Cape Cod and spent the next two years studying, painting, and taking photographs. He now resides in Bridgehampton, New York with his partner and has a painting studio in Southampton, NY. He has been featured in publications like Architectural Digest, W, Vogue, Luxe Interior + Design, Town and Country, Purist, Forbes, and Long Island Pulse. His artwork has also been featured at Guild Hall in East Hampton, NY, the Park Avenue Armory, The Provincetown Art Association and Museum. In 2015, he received the Catherine and Theo Hios Best Landscape Award at Guild Hall by curator Marla Prather of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
For the oil painting “Dive” 2023 “Tansey says “it was inspired by mid-century advertisements between 1938 and 1950. Simple shapes and graphic illustrations were used to promote a new modern way of living.” Known today for his oil paintings, Tansey will show selected works for this solo exhibition in Hudson. These include abstract, uniquely textured still lifes, flowers, landscapes, and figures. He draws inspiration from the impasto canvas paintings of Nicolas de Staël, expressionistic paintings of Joan Mitchell, and the figurative paintings of Alex Katz. His own technique involves broad brush and palette knife with a sophisticated sense of color. Tansey has studied at the International Center of Photography, The School of Visual Arts, The Arts Students League of New York, The New York Film Academy and the Provincetown Art Association.
This is his second solo show at the Robin Rice Gallery, now in her new location at 234 Warren street in Hudson NY.

Angelina by Keith Carter, 2021, Archival Pigment Print
By Keith Carter b.1948
Located in Denton, TX
Angelina by Keith Carter presents a sublime scene. A branch dips into the calm and quiet river. Trees line the river's edge, extending back to the horizon. The stillness in the water reflect the overhanging foliage, creating a dreamlike scene.
Angelina by Keith Carter is listed as a 16 x 16 inch archival pigment print, with the paper size measuring 22 x 17 inches. It is available in an edition of 25. This photograph is signed, titled, dated, and numbered in pencil on print verso by Keith Carter. Angelina is from Carter's series, Ghostlight.
Keith Carter is an American photographer who is known for his dreamlike black and white photographs of the figure, animals, and meaningful objects. He began photographing new and unknown realities using East Texas natives as subjects. This population and background setting spoke to the folklore, religious, and cultural motifs Carter was visually exploring. Since his start in Texas, his work continues to push imaginative realms while reaching prestigious artistic and technical status.
In 1970, Carter earned a Business Management degree from Lamar University and began his career as a commercial photographer while working on personal projects. These personal projects have become a strong and highly sought after collection that have become twelve published monographs. Carter currently teaches photography at Lamar University as a Distinguished Faculty Lecturer. He travels worldwide providing photography lectures and workshops for artists.
