Bogumił Książek was educated at the Cracow’s Academy of Fine Arts (1995-2000). 2003 -2009 he lived and worked in Florence, Italy
2009 - 2020 he lives and works in Cracow employed on Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow as a teacher His works have been purchased by the Frissiras Museum in Athen, and appear in private collections around the world.
Książek was selected for the important art shortlist in a Book: „100 Painters of Tomorrow” – organised by Thames&Hudson and Beers. Lambert. London
For Bogumil Ksiazek, the practice of painting is a subject in itself. Guided by the principles of uncertainty and eclecticism, he follows a thread, carefully feeling his way along it, and illuminating it with the tools he has to hand – fingers, brushes, computer, collage – all with consummate ease. Abstraction he treats as gesture, or as geometry to be superimposed, combined, or conflated with a figurative register, this process creating marks, smudges and stains. This fusion of abstract with figurative is the surrealistic method he employs in his search. His palette, with its seemingly random twists and turns, follows its own path; at times intense, at times reduced to a subdued monochrome.to

This bird's eye view is looking east into the city with a peak of Lake Michigan in the background and captures a portion of Chicago's iconic skyline. The painting was inspired by a series of flower borders in the Oxford Botanic Gardens known as the Merton Borders, a natural planting, with sustainability in mind, the species are able to withstand high temperatures and low rainfall. The borders are a riotous profusion of pink, yellow and purple flowers.
Last image shows a diptych - The other works is sold but commissions are available. This was the left hand panel of a bright jazzy pair of paintings intended to form a diptych - see Red Hot Border II which formed the right hand panel. The paintings may be hung separately or side by side as shown in the insitu image.
