Arne Vodder BO-85 Danish Teak Desk for Bovirke
By Arne Vodder, Bovirke
Located in Kalamazoo, MI
Rare and beautiful organically shaped desk designed by Arne Vodder and made by Bovirke in Denmark in the 1950s. This desk has a unique combination of a teak top, walnut fronted drawers and beech frame/legs. This combination of three spectacular woods is unusual and elevates this desk to the highest level of mid-century modern design. Vodder's signature lip around the desktop edge keeps papers and accessories from falling off but also draws and guides your eye around the unique shape, defining the boundaries of the desk. Two ample sized drawers float on the cross bar between two sets of legs - the crossbar also makes an excellent foot perch for additional comfort. See the original brass drawer pulls and maker's mark underneath (visible in photos).
This desk is very well made with solid dowel construction. There is occasional finish wear and marks as is to be expected for a +60 year old desk.
