This is reflected in the high precious metal weight. The gold shells and all moving parts such as the hinge, the picture frame and the bail are extremely durable. The bail is conveniently equipped with a clasp mechanism. > Send us two of your favourite photos. We fit them into your locket free of charge. About vitreuos enamel: The inimitably luminous colours are literally created "in the fire": layer by layer, enamel is carefully fired in at 800 degrees Celsius. During guilloching, the finest wave patterns are engraved into the gold, creating a unique depth effect. Vitreous means made of glass: the ancient technique is almost forgotten today and Victor Mayer is perhaps the last manufactory to master it at the highest level. About guilloché: Guilloché refers to a class of enamel with abstract geometric patterns cut into the surface of precious metals and showing clearly through the overlying glaze. The manner in which the design is engraved into the metal increases the luminous quality and play of colors in the translucent glaze when the object is rotated to catch the light. About peridot: Peridot, sometimes called chrysolite, is a deep yellowish-green transparent variety of olivine. Peridot is one of the few gemstones that occurs in only one color. Peridot can be found in mafic and ultramafic rocks occurring in lava and peridotite xenoliths of the mantle. The gem occurs in silica-deficient rocks such as volcanic basalt and pallasitic meteorites. Peridot is one of only two gems observed to be formed not in the Earth’s crust, but in the molten rock of the upper mantle. Gem-quality peridot is rare on Earth's surface due to its susceptibility to weathering during its movement from deep within the mantle to the surface. (Source: Wikipedia) About akoya pearls: The akoya pearl is a saltwater cultured pearl from the akoya oyster (Pinctada fucata martensii). Akoya are considered to be the classic pearl used for necklaces and other pearl jewelry, with perfect round shapes, bright mirror...

Antique Swiss Guilloche Enamel And Pearl Silver Locket Pendant

Exquisite Antique Swiss green guilloche enamel and silver locket. We believe the piece was a ladies pocket watch previously and converted to a locket later. This enamelled locket was made in Switzerland and it's decorated with a hand painted romantic scene of a pair of a man leaning against the bricked wall towards a last in a dress. The scene is finished with a beautiful scrolled gold frame. This piece is also decorated with delicate seed pearls on the edges from each side (front and back). The locket opens to reveal one compartment separated with a glass where we believe the watch mechanism was one placed. Fully hallmarked inside of the green enamel side: 'ARGENT DORE...
