His most-visited subject matter includes the eroticized, nude female form and realistic animals. His sculptures, ranging in scale from figurines to monumental outdoor pieces, are made using the lost wax technique to produce casts, which are then filled with molten metal.

His notable works include the recent national WWI memorial sculpture. Howard is the creator of the large-scale pieces Hermes, Aphrodite, and Apollo, as well as many smaller pieces. His Works are owned by private collectors and museums including The Mount, Edith Wharton's home.
