Clare Halifax Abstract Prints
British
Clare Halifax, artist, joins Wychwood Art selling art online and in their art gallery in Deddington. Clare Halifax is offering exclusive Cotswold screen prints with Wychwood Art as well as scenes of London and Oxford. Clare Halifax graduated from the University of Loughborough in 2000 with a BA Hons in Printed Textile design and went on to sell her work internationally to the fashion and interior markets. In 2009 Clare Halifax completed an MA in Multi-disiciplinary printmaking at the University of the West of England, which saw her work develop into the production of limited edition prints and ceramic pieces. Having grown up in the South West of England, the inspiration for Clare’s work comes from the buildings that surrounded her and nostalgic reminisces of places and items of interest. Within each image, design, pattern and colour plays an important part, adding depth and decoration to build an aesthetically pleasing overall effect. Clare Halifax currently resides in London where she continues to be influenced by her everyday environment.(Biography provided by Wychwood Art Gallery)

This print was originally published by Kettle's Yard - before it rapidly sold out.
It is accompanied by the Certificate of Authenticity issued by the publisher to the original owner.
The print was editioned by master printer, Kip Gresham at The Print Studio, Cambridge for Kettle's Yard. It was made using an original drawing ‘cut’ into an acrylic sheet. The image is then reversed when printed.
Description from the publisher:
"Drawing has been fundamental to Ai Weiwei’s artistic practice from an early age. He also has a longstanding love of cats, and they appear frequently in the artist’s social media posts. Many cats used to roam his studio in Beijing. As part of the Kettle’s Yard exhibition, Ai’s ‘Cats wallpaper’ (2015) will be displayed in the Castle Street window. This artwork was originally exhibited as ‘Studio Cats’ in the exhibition Andy Warhol / Ai Weiwei at the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne, reflecting both artists’ mutual love of cats. For Kettle’s Yard, the drawing of Maple and Birch has been inserted among the other cats depicted on the wallpaper."
Quote from Ai Weiwei:
"I like cats very much because of their independent character, alertness and understanding of human beings; I have feelings approximating to reverence for them. Cats have been regarded as psychic animals since ancient times, no matter in China or ancient Greece. What’s even more interesting is that if a selfie of mine would be seen by 100 people, a cat photo...

John Van Hamersveld (born September 1, 1941) is an American graphic artist and illustrator who designed record jackets for pop and psychedelic bands from the 1960s onward. Among the 300 albums[3] are the covers of Magical Mystery Tour by the Beatles, Crown of Creation by Jefferson Airplane, Exile on Main Street by the Rolling Stones, and Hotter Than Hell by Kiss. His first major assignment, in 1963, was designing the poster for the surf film The Endless Summer, after which he served as Capitol Records' head of design from 1965 to 1968. During that time, he worked on the artwork for albums by Capitol artists such as the Beatles and the Beach Boys.[5] He also oversaw the design of the psychedelic posters for the Pinnacle Shrine exposition.[6]
The Endless Summer
The Endless Summer (John Van Hamersveld illustration)
In 1963, Van Hamersveld was hired by director and filmmaker Bruce Brown to design the iconic Endless Summer movie poster using a photograph taken by Bob Bagley, general manager and camera man for Bruce Brown Films. In the staged photograph originally taken at Salt Creek, Brown is positioned in the foreground with his surfboard on his head and the movie's two stars, Robert August...

With tropical animals, worldly sculptures, and vibrant textiles, Hunt Slonem’s early still lifes are filled with treasures that reflect his childhood spent traveling to faraway places. As the son of a Navy officer, Slonem moved every two or three years during his youth, living everywhere from Hawaii to Washington State to Nicaragua. “I would say my whole life could be summed up by the word exotica,” the artist has said. Slonem’s still lifes contain allusions of his various homes, including pineapples, Native American headdresses...
