David Gordon Clocks

American, b. 1936

David Gordon was born in Springfield, Massachusetts and currently works out of New York City, and Santa Fe, New Mexico. He attended the Art Institute of Chicago and has been practicing fine art for over 35 years. David has worked with many mediums but his primary focus is incorporating paintings within low optic sculptural glass pieces. Low optic glass is a crystal clear medium that conveys the purity of pigment. Past works include over two miles of handmade mosaics for the New York City subway system for three of its stations, two murals for the Coney Island Aquarium, and original porcelain work for W Hotels, Hyatt Hotels and the Mohegan Sun in Connecticut. He has also partnered with some of the world’s leading architects and designers. David co-designed the Academy for the Love of Learning Campus in Santa Fe, NM, on 86 acres with a grouping of Gold LEED-certified green buildings and landscaped grounds. The main building houses a 24-foot tall porcelain mosaic waterfall made by hand. David lives in New York City and Santa Fe, NM. His primary focus now is on his sculptural glass pieces, which are highlighted here and were created in 2014.
