Egidio Boninsegna Wall Decorations
Egidio Boninsegna was one of Milan's most celebrated sculptors, medalists and painter in the early to the mid-20th century. Boninsegna is best known for the creation of numerous tombs for the Monumental Cemetery and the Musocco Cemetery in Milan. He also sculpted the monument dedicated to the Milanese painter Filippo Carcano in 1915. He opened a studio in Milan and began an independent activity as a sculptor in marble, bronze and plaster, specializing in funeral monuments commissioned by private individuals and in celebratory and honorary medals. He participated with his works in various exhibitions, obtaining awards and successes. Since 1915, he has been a member of the artistic commission of the Galleria d'Arte Moderna in Milan. In 1958, he died in his Milanese home-studio. His activity as a painter was minor but still remarkable.
