The French photographer published a critically-acclaimed monograph on portraits of Europeans, "Figures of Europe," which include portraits of influential Europeans through 1990. Ormond Gigli (1925-2019) published in the top magazines, such as LIFE, Time, and Paris Match. Assignments took the photographer around the globe. Gigli's celebrity portraits included Sophia Loren (at age 21), Anita Ekberg, Marcel Duchamp, John F. Kennedy, Halston, Gina Lollobrigida, Diana Vreeland, Marlene Dietrich, Judy Garland, among others. The most famous of Gigli's favorite photographs were self-assigned, such as one of the legendary fashion photographs of the 20th century, Girls in the Windows.
