Guadalupe Laiz Black and White Photography
Guadalupe Laiz is an international artist, photographer and explorer born and raised in Argentina. She moved to the US aspiring to start her career as a photographer at 18. She claims that her real education began after attending art school with a degree in photography in Colorado. Laiz’s main focus for these past four years has been an extensive body of work capturing the beauty and uniqueness of the indigenous horses of Iceland. Her body of work from the upcoming book, Horses of Iceland has been shown in exhibitions in the United States, France, Iceland and Switzerland. Driven by the belief that art and beauty transform how people think about conservation and nature, she focuses on the environment and animals that are pure and gentle by their very nature. Laiz’s efforts are to communicate through art the importance of animal abuse awareness, environmental issues and the relevance of educating all generations to make conscious lifestyle decisions to protect our planet.

Guadalupe Laiz is an international artist, photographer and explorer born and raised in Argentina. Guadalupe’s main focus for the past ten years has been an extensive body of work capturing the beauty and uniqueness of the indigenous horses of Iceland, a country that has touched her deeply and continues to visit. Her work “Horses of Iceland” has been shown in exhibitions all over the world.
This photograph is from her newest series "Among the Living." For this body of work, Laiz traveled across the African continent for six years, visiting Kenya, Namibia, Tanzania, Batswana, Rwanda, and Uganda. Forgoing comfort often for months at a time, she returned with intimate portraits of the charismatic and fierce, yet vulnerable and endangered animals she encountered. It is impossible to look at one of her photographs and not feel her subject’s innate individuality. The negative was scanned creating a digital file which was then printed on Hahnemühle Photo Rag® Baryta 315 gsm (Acid- and lignin-free paper, Museum quality for highest age resistance and a popular alternative to analogue baryta paper) using pigment inks which are known for their longevity.

Ian Sanderson (born 1951 Scotland, died 2020 Spain) was a Scottish photographer.
Ian produced images over a 35 year career. For most he worked as both a Commercial and Fine Art photographer; during his last years concentrated on his personal archive.
Ian and his widow Nathalie have worked for many years with alternative printing techniques in their workshop, ISP, creating Platinum Palladium, Silver Gelatin, Lith or Gum Bichromate.
This culminated in a large retrospective exhibition in Barcelona which was sponsored by the Nando and Elsa Peretti Foundation.
Platinum Palladium printing is a traditional photographic technique which precedes silver gelatin technique.
Many photographers have worked with it in the past as Irvin Penn, Manuel Alvarez Bravo, Robert Mapplethorpe, Sebastiao Salgado o Ormond Gigli with its Platinum with gold leaf print 'Girls in the Windows'.
ISP Workshop continues with the work of Ian's widow to create archival pigment prints like this one but also rare and personalized photographs.
