In the the 1920s, Boucher moved to New York City from his native country. In 1937, he founded his own jewelry house after having apprenticed with Cartier and worked as a designer for Mazer Bros. The brand quickly became known for its enameled costume jewelry. By the end of the 1940s, Boucher hired (and later married) another designer named Sandra Semensohn.
