Marie Raymond Abstract Prints
French, 1908-1989
Marie Raymond French 1908-1989 was a post WWII painter . She was married to Fred Klein ( Dutch-Indonesian figurative painter) and the mother of Yves Klein ( Nouveau Realist). She was an lyrical abstractionist, innovative , deeply respected by her peers and a pioneer of her generation. She was born near Nice, in the south of France. Following her marriage to Frederick Klein, they moved to Paris and lived a bohemian lifestyle in Montparnasse. Their friends were cubist artists ( Villon, and Kupka), and abstractionist painter Nicolas de Stael in the south of France. Marrie Raymond showed at important salons and exhibitions and received the prestigious Kandinsky Prize in 1949. In the 1950's Raymond shifted from a more linear structure to independent color forms, a more free style. She was a great colorist and lyrical abstractionist.to

He was part of the "Ferus group" of artists so called for their association to the Ferus Gallery that operated in Los Angeles in 1957–1966. Some of the other artists included in this group are Edward Kienholz, Larry Bell, Robert Irwin, Billy Al Bengston. He was featured in the Cool School documentary, a film about Altoon and other Ferus Gallery artists such as Walter Hopps and Ed Kienholz...
