Richard Sapper ‘Tizio’ Table Lamp Artemide, Italy, 1972
By Artemide, Richard Sapper
Located in London, GB
Richard Sapper (1932-2015) was born in German but worked in Italy, and his work brings together the best design principles of both nations. On one hand the ‘Tizio’ lamp possesses a northern European emphasis on functionalism. It was conceived as the ideal table lamp by its creator because of its wide range of movements, based on precisely calibrated counterweights at the end of each of the arms. On the other hand, it has a radically lithe profile and dusky, equipoised sense of style redolent of southern European sensibilities. It has become “an icon of high-tech design”, according to the MoMA where an example exhibited, and had its heyday as the lamp of choice for the design-conscious bright young things...

Artemide Pausania LED Table Lamp in Black and Green by Ettore Sottsass
By Artemide, Ettore Sottsass
Located in Hicksville, NY
Artemide Pausania LED table lamp in black and green by Ettore Sottsass. The godfather of contemporary Italian design, Ettore Sottsass believed products should be as sensual as functional. Trained as an architect, Sottsass was a founding member of Memphis Design, a reaction against monotone formalism towards color and geometrical experimentation. Highly regarded through his iconic designs for the workplace with Olivetti, Sottsass had equal impact on private space with his “Superbox” closet, glass and ceramics. Originally designed in the 1980s era by Ettore Sottsass, Pausania has become a masterpiece of the design of the 20th century. It has become part of the permanent design collections of world renowned museums including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Steming from the visionary identity of Artemide, it reminds of a modern interpretation of the Classic banker’s lamp. Pausania’s technology has been reimagined to adapt to today’s standards of intelligent, eco-friendly, and energy efficient LED lighting. It is now featuring the latest Tunable White technology, allowing the user to select the right level of intensity as well as the right color of light he needs for each moment of life. Available for purchase within the United States only...

Mid-century Vintage Red Dalù Table Lamp by Vico Magistretti for Artemide, 1960s
By Artemide, Vico Magistretti
Located in Warszawa, Mazowieckie
This rare table lamp was designed by Vico Magistretti for the Italian manufacture Artemide during the 1960s. The lamp is made of red plastic. Dalù is one of the best designs to reflect the strict style of the great artist, who placed beauty and everyday use on the same level. Vico Magistretti was born in Milan. He attended Parini High School before enrolled in the Regio Politecnico Faculty of Architecture in Milan in the fall of 1939. In 1943-1944 he moved to Switzerland, where he attended several academic courses at the Champ Universitarie Italien in Lausanne. It was then that he spent time with Ernesto Nathan Rogers, who had a key influence on his intellectual education. In 1945 he returned to Milan, where he graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at the Polytechnic University. He immediately started working for his father's company, the architect Piergiulio Magistretti, in via Conservatorio. The 1950s were a very busy and fruitful period for the young architect, who came up with many innovative ideas and very quickly became one of the most outstanding representatives of the third generation. Over the next few years he worked as a designer as well as an architect, creating furniture and objects that will always be classics of contemporary production. It was then that he was awarded the Golden Compass for the Eclisse lamp...
