Narcissus Robert Quagliata Figurative Paintings
Italian, American, b. 1942
An Italian and US citizen, Narcissus Quagliata (Italian-American, b. 1942) was born in Rome, Italy, in 1942, where he studied painting with the metaphysical painter Georgio De Chirico. At the age of 19, Narcissus moved to the United States and studied at the San Francisco Art Institute (under two founding members of the Bay Area figurative school of painting, Elmer Bischoff and Richard Diebenkorn) receiving both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in painting and graphics. After graduating with a BFA and MFA in painting, he spent four years in a studio he built himself in what is now a National Wilderness Area on the coastal mountain range of Northern California. In that studio he made the unique artistic decision to use glass rather than canvas to capture the reality of light itself.
His work can be found in the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian Institute, Washington DC.; Yokohama City Museum of Modern Art, Japan; Oakland Museum, California; Corning Museum of Glass, New York; and Glasmalerei-Museum Izu Kogen, Shizuoka-Ken, Japan.
Building commissions include the Public Library of Gainesville, Florida; Synagogue Acapulco Seventy, Mexico City; and in California, Oakland’s Alice Art Center, the Charles Schwab Building in San Francisco, City of San Leandro Civic Center, and Oakland’s Pacific Bell Building.
He resides and has studios in Mexico and Taiwan.to

"Rainy Day Morning Scape" Contemporary Abstract Figurative Original Oil Painting
A unique contemporary figurative abstract on oval shaped canvas by Narcissus Robert Quagliata (Italian-American, b. 1942). The subject, a close-up of a figure lying in bed with their curled fingers in front of their face, is depicted as if the viewer is looking through the lens of a camera and taking a snapshot of a moment in time. The artist utilizes an interesting perspective and varying degrees of focus to achieve this effect, as the surrounding patterned bed...

Pink, Series Blobs - Contemporary Modern Oil Painting, Colourful Expression
By Grzegorz Radecki
Located in Salzburg, AT
Artist about his work:
BLOBS. THE CHARM OF DRIPPING PAINT
Flowing peacefully in the slow current of a narrow trickle between the feeling of senselessness and some deeply hidden hope or – rather – the need for sense, my painting is closing a subsequent circle. It is one more effort to reach the core, the essence of the nature of light and colour which actually is the essence of the substance ascribed to the job to which the painter is doomed. What I have in mind is the paint flowing across the canvas – its liquid structure which, shaped sparingly by the will of a noble tool, as well as the force of gravity, sometimes happens to become a universal message. One can recognise this message by its sound, accompanied by one’s being particularly moved. Every very tiny particle, which has for years been made sensitive, begins to resonate in accordance with the harmony now appearing, while the seductive sound which accompanies it is capable of leading one into ecstatic vibration.

Oil Painting by Well Known Cartoonist and Illustrator Upper East Side, Manhattan
By Sandy Huffaker
Located in Surfside, FL
An Upper East Side of Manhattan New York city scene of bald guy reading newspaper on bench with East River and tugboat in background.
The 1970s were the “glory days,” Huffaker says, for himself and a stable of talented illustrators whose work routinely found itself on the covers of the nation’s premier newsmagazines and in the pages of The New York Times. For the better part of that decade, Huffaker was among an elite breed of commercial artists—his hero and fellow Southerner Jack Davis, the legendary Mad Magazine illustrator, among them—working during a remarkable period when art directors routinely turned to illustration to give comic relief to the country’s deeply serious and dark problems. From civil rights and the women’s movement to Vietnam and Watergate, the gas crisis and inflation to the rise of Jimmy Carter, Huffaker mined a deep well of material ripe for his brand of visual wit and caustic satire. He sent his portfolio to children's book illustrator Maurice Sendak, the legendary “Where The Wild Things Are” illustrator to gauge his prospects, and when Sendak replied, “C’mon up, you’ll do all right,”
