Questions About Otagiri Company Furniture
- Is Otagiri still in business?1 Answer1stDibs ExpertFebruary 27, 2024No, Otagiri is not still in business. In 1994, the company Enesco bought out Otagiri, which was founded in 1954. Enesco continued for a time to produce pieces bearing the Otagiri logo but has since discontinued manufacturing Otagiri pottery. On 1stDibs, find a diverse assortment of Otagiri pieces.
- How do you identify an Otagiri?1 Answer1stDibs ExpertSeptember 23, 2024To identify an Otagiri, examine the bottom of the piece. For some items, the Otagiri name is painted directly on them in Japanese characters. You can find images of these markings published on trusted online resources to compare what appears on your piece. In addition, Otagiri wares may feature a diamond-shaped gold foil sticker that reads "OMC Japan." Unfortunately, these labels may have come off of some pieces over the years. If you have difficulty with the identification process, a certified appraiser or knowledgeable antique dealer can help you. Explore a selection of Otagiri porcelain on 1stDibs.
