Pierre Andrieu Figurative Drawings and Watercolors
Pierre Andrieu was a pupil of the famous painter Eugène Delacroix and his colleague from 1844 until 1863. He worked with him at the town hall of Paris, at the Senate, at the Chamber of Deputies, at the Angels Chapel at the Saint-Sulpice Church and they also restored the ceiling of the Apollo Gallery at the Louvre. In 1868, Andrieu restored the paintings at the Senate library realized by Delacroix ruined by infiltrations. In 1871, he opened his art studio and realized copies of Delacroix’s artworks, original paintings with genre scenes and animals (one is currently at the National Gallery in London) and a great number of orientalist drawings and paintings.
