Rick Lewis Wall Decorations

American, b. 1965
My career as a professional artist improved upon moving to New York in 1993. I was employed full time as an artist assistant to the established painter John Alexander, where I was exposed to the New York art scene and it’s inner workings. I learned what it meant to have a working dialogue amongst artist peers, maintain a studio, and to organize personal archives and exhibitions.Subsequently I assisted noted artists Donald Lipski, Bryan Hunt, Paul Manes, and Dan Rizzie in various short and long term capacities. I opened a private studio in Brooklyn as well as East Hampton, New York in 1993, luckily when it was still possible for a young artist to do so. I supplemented my income designing gardens for various estate properties in the Hamptons on Long Island. I was introduced to Peggy Cooper-Cafritz in 1994 and through her generous patronage was able to focus primarily on making my art. I mounted my first major one person exhibit of paintings at Kristy Stubbs Gallery in Dallas, Texas in 1995. In 1997 I was added to the artist roster at Hooks-Epstein Galleries in Houston, Texas, and had 3 solo exhibitions there from 1997 to 2003.
