Stephen Scott Young Portrait Prints

American, b. 1957
Stephen Scott Young [1957 - ] American Young was influenced by artists such as Winslow Homer and the Old Masters such as Caravaggio and Vermeer. A graduate of the Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, Florida, Young began working in watercolor in 1976 taking first prize at the American Artists national art competition in watercolors in 1985. Like Homer, Young made trips to the Bahamas where he discovered the crisp, bright light that has become the hallmark of his paintings today. Both painted beautifully detailed figurative works which included black girls. Currently, the artist divides his time between studios in Florida and the Bahamas. He is part of the contemporary American Realist movement.

Original Fight or Buy Bonds, Third Liberty Loan, Large Format vintage poster
By Howard Chandler Christy
Located in Spokane, WA
Original. FIGHT OR BUY BONDS. THIRD LIBERTY LOAN. Linen backed. Lithograph. World War 1 authentic vintage poster. ARTIST: Howard Chandler Christy. Linen-backed, larger size format for this poster. Ready to frame. Despite minor edge wear touch-up from linen backing, this poster presents very well and is in above-average condition. You can be confident in the quality of this piece. One of the most famous and powerful WW1 propaganda images, this flag-waving Ms. Liberty (aka Columbia) poster is unusual in that it urged both recruitment and bond sales. The US had just entered the war when this poster appeared and it is one of the earliest examples of myriad illustrations that were used to motivate both troops and the American public. It's designer, Howard Chandler Christy, was at the height of his fame. He earned his spurs as a wartime artist when he accompanied US troops to Cuba in 1898, an experience that stood him in good stead when he was called on to create his famed series of patriotic WW1 posters...

Pin Up Girl with Red Hat, untitled, original pinup vintage poster
By Billy Devorss
Located in Spokane, WA
Original Pin-Up Girl with Red Hat vintage pin-up poster. Artist: Billy Devorss. Size: 15.25" x 20". Archival linen backed in mint condition; ready to frame. This striking original poster displays a graceful model wearing a vibrant red sun hat against a light blue background. This is truly a lovely piece! Billy DeVorss (1908 – 1985) was a self-taught illustration artist who started his commercial career in 1933. He was well known throughout his career for the voluptuous figures and attractive faces of his images. This poster is one of those great pin-up style images created by DeVorss. Alone among the pin-up artists in being entirely self-taught, Billy De Vorss sold his first three published pin-ups to the Louis F. Dow Calendar Company in St. Paul in about 1933. Until that time, he had been working as a teller in a bank in St. Joseph, Missouri. There, he met the stunning woman Glenna, who became his wife and first official model. Encouraged to develop his talent by Gene Sayles, the manager of Brown and Bigelow...

Original Einstein "Hair. It's not the style that counts" vintage poster
Located in Spokane, WA
Original Einstein vintage poster. “Hair. It’s not the style that counts, it’s what’s under it.” A black and white image of Einstein with his hair messed me. Linen-backed in excellent condition, ready to frame. From a series of portraits with inspirational quotes from The Equitable Life Assurance Society of the United States. Photo from Bettmann Archive. The poster is a variation of the original photo with the quote “It’s not the style that counts, it’s what’s under it”. This quote is a play on words emphasizing substance's importance over style. The poster reminds us that actual value lies in what is inside a person rather than their outward appearance. About Equitable Life. After closing to new business in 2000, parts of the business were sold off, and the remainder of the company became a subsidiary of Utmost Life and Pensions in January 2020. The Equitable Life Assurance Society (Equitable Life), founded in 1762, is a life insurance...
