Suzanne Winn Still-life Paintings

British
Suzanne Winn is a landscape artist living in rural Hampshire, England. Central to her work is a desire to tap into the energy she feels when she is within the landscape. This energy brings a sense of movement and freedom, and a feeling of connection. She likes to revisit the same locations repeatedly, so she really can get to know these places intimately and she aims to go out drawing every week. Back in the studio, Suzanne paints in oils from her sketches, memory, and photographs taken whilst out working and walking in the fields. Her limited but flexible colour palette is deployed “alla prima”, thereby adopting a wet-on-wet approach, often layering up thick, impasto layers of paint in a single painting session. Suzanne exhibits regularly : November 2020 - January 2021: New Ashgate Gallery, Farnham - Winter Exhibition September / October 2020: Surrey Artists’ Open Studios September 2020 - November 2020: New Ashgate Gallery, Farnham - Painting Farnham exhibition 2019/2020: New Ashgate Gallery, Farnham - Winter Exhibition 2019: Alresford Arts Festival 2019: Surrey Artists’ Open Studios 2018: Surrey Artists’ Open Studios 2017: Surrey Artists’ Open Studios.

Peach Lilies (Contemporary Still Life of Vibrant Tiger Lilies, Oil on canvas)
By Dan Rupe
Located in Hudson, NY
Peach Lilies (Contemporary Still Life of Vibrant Tiger Lilies, Oil on canvas) by Dan Rupe 22 x 22 inches oil on linen canvas Signed on reverse Artist Dan Rupe paints only from life, his composition ruled by his intuitive sense of formal order. He begins covering his canvas with a deep crimson wash. This ground gives his brilliant pure color , applied with an expressive, direct gesture, an electric charge. No matter how often or how long one looks at a Rupe painting, it is always the present tense. The tone of his palette, the freshness and clarity of primary colors, reflects an optimistic attitude, an intrinsic love of life. In this work, three vibrant peach colored lilies open their blooms amidst bright green grasses. Rupe succeeds at capturing the immediacy of his subjects be it flowers, buildings or people. Read below for an amusing profile written about the artist in 2003: You‘ve likely seen him on the streets of Hudson, seated before his canvas in a multi-colored paint daubed t-shirt and shorts, his straw hat providing shade for all but his tanned forearms and knees. His splattered Technicolor Walkman tape player...
