Vanessa Marsh Mixed Media
American, b. 1978
Vanessa Marsh is a photographer living and working in Oakland, CA. Marsh makes her images by first creating drawings on clear mylar. These drawings are then laid on top of light-sensitive paper in the darkroom and then the paper is exposed to light. For images with layered landscapes, multiple drawings are placed on the paper which is then exposed at intervals, and a drawing is removed at the end of each interval. The stars are created by exposing the paper to light through a mask with small holes poked into it. The darkroom aspect of the process creates a photogram negative, which she then scans and inverts into a positive image digitally. The final images are pigment prints on archival rag paper.to

Western Landscape #11

Located in Park City, UT
"Within the series Everywhere, Always, I have combined a series of black and white images and a series of color photographs. In the black and white images planes of landscape appear to exist independently from one another like tectonic plates. Our sense of time and space is taken apart and re-ordered creating images where contemporary experiences and memory merge. How I see the world around me combines with recollections from multiple sources; the image of a water logged Washington State landscape...

`Irwin w/ beacon`, 2021 -`In;Human Nature` painting glacier nasa moon
By Christian Houge
Located in Oslo, NO
Edition of 3.
3 separate pieces make up this installation.
150 cm. x 150 cm. Pigment print mounted on aluminium. Framed in solid oak with museum glass.
, `The need for images that can change us. `
– An account of Christian Houges images.
“For example, one could say. A people is a “group of rational beings, bound together in agreement about what they love.” The kind of “people” they are, would be determined from what they “have loved.” If we then have a group of rational beings (animals excluded) who are “bound together in an agreement about what they have loved”, then it makes sense to call them a “people”, no matter what they may have loved. And for better or worse, what it is that they have found in common, through better or worse they are considered as a people”
– Augustin, De civitate Dei – The City of God.
..............In this context, another series by Christian Houge becomes interesting, because it not only sheds light on the national romanticism and the kind of historical movement it is part of, but also because it provides us with a critical look at how we imagine landscapes, and we are reflected in them, in the historical and social sense.
