William Mulready Furniture
British, 1786-1863
William Mulready was born in Ennis, County Clare. Early in his life, in 1792, the family moved to London, where he was able to get an education and was taught painting, well enough to be accepted at the Royal Academy School at the age of 14. In 1808, he began to gain a reputation for his still life and “cottage” subjects, a genre painter, best known for his scenes of rural life and anecdotal subjects. In 1816, he was made a member of the Royal Academy.
