David Wang is a native of Beijing, China. He gained his education from the Beijing Education College of China in 1984, where he learned various techniques in drawing, watercolor, oil painting, sculpture, graphic design, and Chinese watercolor. After receiving his Bachelor of Arts Degree, he became a fine arts teacher. During his eight years of teaching, he has taught hundreds of quality students, some becoming professional artists and cinematographers. Wang has also accomplished several major art and design projects, such as designing and creating an exhibit of the Terra-Cotta army warriors in the Forbidden City and interior designs for shopping plazas in Beijing.
In 1988, David came to the U.S as a visitor scholar and studied at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. After his studies in 1992, he continued his profession as a full-time artist. For twelve years, he had a successful career creating visual art for the Walt Disney Feature Animation Florida Studio. He worked as a senior background artist doing work from concept development to production final work. A master marine painter, Yelland painted in Gloucester Harbor. He sailed to San Francisco in 1874 to take a teaching position in art at Mills College in Oakland. From 1877 to 1894, he taught at the California School of Design. He was a decisive influence on a younger generation of California artists.
Full Bio:
Raymond Dabb Yelland was born in London, England on February 2, 1848. At the age of three, he immigrated with his family to New York City where he was raised and attended public schools. By the age of twelve, he had settled on art as a career.
He was born as Raymond Dabb, but due to the negative connotation of his name, his mother's maiden name, Yelland, was added. After serving under Sheridan in the Federal Army during the Civil War, Yelland attended Pennington Seminary in New Jersey. He studied art at the National Academy of Design from 1869 to 1871 with Page and Brevoort, and then taught at the Academy for one year.
With his new bride, he sailed around the Horn in 1874 to San Francisco where he would assume the position of an art instructor at Mills College in Oakland. In 1877, he traveled to England, and later continued his studies in Paris with Luc Oliver Merson. Upon his return to California, Yelland became assistant director of the San Francisco School of Design, and in 1888, assumed its directorship. Painter of landscapes, book illustrator, and graphic artist, Ina Annett was born in Cleveland, Oklahoma, and moved to Norman, where she was an art teacher at the University of Oklahoma and member of the Oklahoma Art Association.
She was a student of BErger Sandzen, Oscar Brousse Jacobsen and George Bridgman and exhibited with the Denver Art Club and the Oklahoma State Fair. Her mediums were oil, watercolor, batik, block printing and lithography. Book illustrations include Folk Say 1930, edited by Ben Botkin; and Forgotten Frontiers by Alfred B Thomas.
