The Danes do more than sell arts and crafts in their distinguished work, they sell Denmark." - Lawrence Peabody, 1957 History Lawrence “Larry” Peabody (1924-2002) was an architect, interior designer, and furniture designer. As an American born in Haverhill, Massachusetts, his distinctive design were often influenced by his Scandinavian roots. Lawrence studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, Denmark and at the Rhode Island School of Design. His early career with Selig Mfg. Co. was prolific and helped put both himself and Selig on the map for modern furniture. He then started Lawrence Peabody & Associates in 1955, a design firm in Boston which included a vast client list (Sears, Roebuck & Co., Kohler, Regal Rugs, Boyd Lighting, Chapman Lamps, and Richardson Brothers). In 1961, Mr. Peabody won a Citation for Merit for his Peabody Collection for Richardson/ Nemschoff. Winner of the 1962 International A.I.D. design award for his wood frame rattan cradle...

"Hanbury" is a lounge chair, included into the Dessie' collection and manufactured by Dessie', made in solid teak with seat and back upholstered in fabric or in chamois leather. Indoor and outdoor use. DIMENSIONS: D. 38.6", W. 21.2", H. 28.3" DESSIE' company's mission is putting a contemporary spin on the old tradition of cabinet-making, in order to offer pieces of furniture ready to get people excited and to satisfy aesthetic and functional values of the contemporary way of living. Dessie' was started during 1990s and now proposes a collection of pieces of furniture inviting to discover a sophisticated and elegant design, an unique style where different influences merge, and to re-create a simple and refined design atmosphere for unconventional people who are freely looking for essential and high quality pieces. A collection, including tables, small tables, writing desks, console tables, bedside tables, chairs, bookcases, dressers, cabinets, cupboards, upholstered pieces of furniture and lamps, which was created having in mind an essential style and a careful attention to recent trends. Harmony of forms and care for high quality and rational design, attentively studying any detail, are some of key features of production by Dessie', which has been always reworking the legacy from the tradition by means of a strongly contemporary design language.
