About Patricia O'Shaughnessy Design

“Our goal is to produce comfortable interiors with personality and wit, while following the client’s vision.”

— Patti O

Patti has been under her own label for 30 years, offering insights and accessible design. She has navigated the interior design market as designer, editor, and stylist. She can articulate what will create a cohesive look, quickly assessing what makes a setting work, ergonomically and aesthetically. To each project she brings her own artistic perspective, creative solutions and a broad knowledge of the home furnishings market from custom to retail.

As editor and stylist, Patti contributed to and styled several design books, among which Formal Country is the most well-known. This and its companion, Formal Country Entertaining, were style statements for the Madison Ave shop Sweet Nellie, which she managed with owner and author Pat Ross. Formal Country gained a national following and was pivotal in the renewed enthusiasm for the “American Country” style.

From books to magazines and commercial projects, she styled for decorating and design magazines, working with over 20 mastheads, including House Beautiful and Country Living. She also styled for many commercial brands, such as Minwax and Grange.

As the DIY trend picked up momentum, Patti co-hosted a radio talk show, House Calls, offering professional advice to homeowners and Interior Design enthusiasts.

In 1990, she founded her Interior Design firm in NYC and moved her office to Bronxville in 2008.

While continuing to craft custom interiors, Patti seeks inspiration through the Fine Arts. She is on the board of the OSilas Gallery at Concordia College, Bronxville, and recently co-curated the show Petal Power, Hope Springs Eternal. In 2011, she curated Finnegan’s Farm, Then and Now at the Lyme Academy of Fine Arts in Old Lyme, CT.
