About Studio DB
Studio DB is a Manhattan-based architecture and interiors firm headed by husband-and-wife duo Britt and Damian Zunino. Inspired by the European ideals of an appreciation for the beauty in everyday life, Britt and Damian aim to emulate that in their design. Like “skateboarding in a dress” their design embraces the juxtaposition and tension between polished and playful, between modern and traditional. In each Studio DB project, there is an unexpected mix of materials, unusual forms and whimsical patterns and colors, all anchored by an approachable contemporary feel. Thoughtful design details also distinguish their work, with tactile and natural materials interpreted in fresh and interesting ways. Collaborating with their clients, the design team creates collected and layered spaces with a focus on unique shapes, clean lines and considered details. The couple has four children of their own, so family spaces are an integral part of many of the projects they design, with a focus on a playful and magical aesthetic.
Studio DB organically launched in 2007 after Britt and Damian had worked together on several projects years prior. Britt unconventional background includes time in fashion, editorial styling, interior design and the action sports industry. Damian’s love of planning, construction and design was fostered during his time at the Yale School of Architecture. The pair’s unique experiences and expertise complement each other, bringing a collaborative and comprehensive approach to each project, from the initial brainstorming stages to thoughtful execution of their ideas. Most important to Britt and Damian are the relationships they’ve built with clients throughout their design careers. This relationship is built by truly listening, so that each project reflects the needs and character of the inhabitant and the site.
Studio DB is working on several domestic projects in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Upstate New York, The Hamptons, Florida and Connecticut as well as internationally, with a project underway in Lake Como. In addition to private residential projects, Studio DB also has designed multi-family residential developments including The Symon, One Clinton and One Vandam, as well as completed hospitality projects and has a Florida hotel in the pipeline.
