About the Item

London painter, George Armfield's original oil painting "Untitled -Terrier with Bowl" is an excellent example of this wonderful 19th century artist who is highly sought after for his dog paintings of Terriers. Original's by the renowned 19th century dog painting artist, George Armfield, are hard to find. The painting was beautifully restored in England in 2022. The original gold leaf frame is exquisite as well. George Armfield was married 3 times and had as many as 7 children, (one record sites 12), some of whom were also artists. Poorer signed work often depicting terriers is relatively prolific, and these are perhaps by the hand of his children. Today his work can be seen in various galleries in Great Britain including the Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, Glasgow Art Gallery and Museum, and the Kennel Club.
