Large Tropical Fruits In the Basket. RAFAEL SALDARRIAGA was born in Medellin, Colombia in 1955. Arrived in the United States in 1993. After living in New Mexico and Hawaii established his residency in New York City. He studied in Live de Zulateqi's Art Academy and also graduated from the school of Architecture and Urban Design with Pontificia Bolivariana University. In 1984 he became a full-time painter. A North Carolina native, Sharon Hockfield has always viewed life through a painter’s lens. She took art lessons at the Mint Museum as a young child, won numerous high school art awards and dabbled in art courses in college. Though her career in public education took her away from painting, it did not stop her interest. Travel always included art museums, galleries and botanical gardens.
