About the Item

Full title: The Sad Clown (aka Un Chien Andalou/Ode to Dali & Bunuel) This one-of-a-kind handmade (darkroom) print is the first of my "The Many Rings of Saturn" photograms to be offered publicly. This brand new series was just recently completed, during my recent artist residency for Frames (Magazine). This black-and-white fiber print was made with ice, flowers, sand, glitter, and more - and was exposed (three times) via a dripping candle. Silver gelatin prints are so archival, that if treated well, they can last for over 200 years! My processes for making photograms sans enlarger are all of my own design. This series, is actually a sub-series of my ongoing "Fire & Ice" series, which concentrates on several of my new processes made with ice, as well as other natural (and not so natural) materials. All of my prints, both film-based and cameraless are what I refer to as spiritual landscapes; My work is about looking deeper, at what something is, and what else it can be. I've opted to share a little video to show you close ups of some of the details of the print, and hope you will look closer at what else you see in the print. Please note that title and orientation are subject to change (If a new title comes to me in the next few days, this horizontal image might become a vertical). [video is available upon request; I had posted one here, purely so you could see close ups of the details throughout these unique prints, but the system rejected them, was probably confused by things like sand that don't show up as sharp details via iPhone, etc.] ***Please note that this unique print is temporarily on loan to the Guggenheim Fellowship Committee; If purchased before I get it back, it will be shipped directly to the collector as soon as the cycle closes in May 2023.
