Ranjeet Singh
The Black Truth Project- 1

2018-19

About the Item

Ranjeet Singh is a multimedia artist who uses the mediums of photography and painting to turn the ‘art for art’s sake approach’ on its head. He employs techniques of photorealism to voice the strong socio-economic and political disparities in our society. In ‘The Black Truth’, Singh highlights the lives of workers at coal mines in his native Jharkhand, Bihar. His purposeful works reveal the truth of what is alive around him, amplifying the voices of the people who are denied basic democratic rights.“I choose the representational-figurative tradition to unfurl myself to my viewers in a simply readable language superimposing identical objects, contexts, and symbols creating paradoxes to convey my idea vigorously”, says the artist.
