About the Item
Very nice original poster from 1946 by Guy Arnoux for Air France and its trips to North America.
A Lockheed Constellation flies from France to the buildings of New York. An optimistic post-war image describing North America as the legendary "city in the clouds". Note the subtle representation of stars and stripes. Arnoux was a very active book illustrator. The few posters he designed generally fall into one of two styles: epinal images, traditional naive woodcuts that focus solely on the positive qualities of a subject, and the present style which is more modernist and Art Deco.
This is an extremely rare masterpiece by Guy Arnoux printed in 1946 by Hubert Baille & Cie in Paris
