Umberto Brunelleschi was a celebrated Italian artist. He led a prolific career in costume and set design, as well as children’s book illustrations. During his career, he worked for venues such as the Folies Bergere, the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris and La Scala in Milan, and also designed costumes for Josephine Baker.

This engraving is a print from the Latin publication of the text of the Apocalypse of 1511. Dürer’s series dedicated to the Apocalypse comprises 15 engravings and a title sheet. The master worked on this series from 1496 to 1498. In 1511, Dürer repeated his Latin edition and provided it with a prohibition on the series being copied.
