Art Deco Era Weber-Costello 12 Inch Desk World Globe with Turned Wooden Base

About the Item

This small Art Deco era desk World globe was made by the Weber-Costello Co. of Chicago Heights Illinois of the United States in 1921 in the period Art Deco style. The globe is printed paper over pressed cardboard and sits atop of a turned wooden base with a brass underneath the globe and another brass accent at the top. The paper of the globe is in extremely good period condition showing no scratches or fading and spins freely on the turned wooden base. The globe is clearly signed by the manufacturer "Weber-Costello Co." of Chicago Illinois and dated "1921".

    Replacements made: The nut holding the center post appears to have been changed and is not original. Wear consistent with age and use. The nut on the base appears to be newer than the globe and was likely changed and has made the wooden base loose. No damage noted to the paper globe or the turned wooden base.
