This is an absolutely fabulous vintage frosted Lucite sculpture of a kudu by David Fisher for Austin Sculptures. Kudus are amazing creatures, and this sculpture is no exception. Let’s talk about the powerful, confident stance of this magnificent beast and his glorious, twisted horns (which are removeable.) It’s quite the stunning spread!! His presence resonates elegance and grace, and he exudes a majestic aura that you will appreciate on the desk in your home office, in your living room on your coffee or sofa table, as a centerpiece on your dining room table, or on the mantle above your fireplace. He would also look wonderful in your man-cave amongst the wildlife memorabilia and taxidermy. He is Modern with a bit of Art Deco Revival flair, but he will blend in beautifully with any décor style! Kudus are a member of the Bovidae family, kind of a cousin to the antelope and there are two species, Greater kudu, and Lesser kudu. Unfortunately, the Lesser kudu are a near threatened species and their population is in decline as males are often killed for their exquisite large, twisted horns. This sculpture is a fabulous representation of their majestic beauty and serves as a wonderful preservation of their existence. It is nothing short of AWESOME. David Fisher is a graduate of the Greek Art College of Odessa and has worked for over thirty years as a sculptor in marble, granite, bronze, and wood. He has also been an honorary member of the Professional Arts union in the U.S.S.R. for over twenty years. He emigrated to the U.S. and won a first-place prize for his sculpture for the Vietnam War Memorial in Washington D.C. Austin has been creating sculptural treasures that enrich the world for over thirty years. From the primitive forms of Africa, through the ornamental and contemplative Oriental sculpture, to contemporary works of the present. Austin Sculpture Collections have over five hundred distinctive pieces and each has a history as unique as the sculpture itself. Don’t let this magnificent frosted Lucite Kudu sculpture by David Fisher for Austin Sculptures pass you by!! Make it yours!!! Located in Topeka, KS
Fabulous organic modern bronze fishbowl sculpture by John Forsythe comprised of cast bronze with golden bronze and green patination. Gorgeous vintage condition with no outstanding flaws that we have found. Please see photos. Circa 1993. No human being, however great, or powerful, was ever so free as a fish – John Ruskin, Picture Quotes. Just look at this magnificent cast bronze bowl sculpture with fish design created by John Forsythe. A decorative bowl comprised of a cast bronze water whirlpool with swimming fish caught in the spinning currents, their half bodies and patinated green tails distending from the swirling water and a fish tail protruding from the exterior base of the bowl. You feel the struggle of trying to stay above water and complete your journey. Surrounded by a cast bronze rim trimmed with shiny green bubbles or fish eggs as to represent salmon and their spawning. Salmon lay an enormous number of eggs because they face a lot of adversity on their journey to becoming an adult, and while we aren’t sure these fish are in fact salmon, it certainly speaks to the realities of the course of life. Overcoming hardships and struggles and new beginnings. This sculpture is unique and one of only fifty created by John Forsythe, so it is sure to be a sought-after piece for collectors. In the style of organic modern or fantasy, this piece would be gorgeous displayed on your dining table, display cabinet or buffet in the family room, or on the coffee table in the living room. John Forsythe knew at an early age that he wanted to be an artist. He graduated from Emporia State University in 1976 with his BFA and started working with metals.
