Antique French Spelter Statue of Maiden by Rullony

About the Item

Antique French spelter statue of Maiden by Rullony was created during the early years of the Art Deco Period, with the beautiful subject in a classical pose holding tobacco leaves above her head. Attractive young women frequently appeared in markets and auction houses to enhance the buying experience. This particular maiden is dressed in flowing robes and appears to be slowly moving about to provide a better view of her merchandise to all in attendance. The sculptor has applied a two-toned patinaed bronze finish to the spelter, then set the work atop a wooden base faux painted to look like rouge marble.
