Pair of French 19th Century Louis XVI St. Belle Époque Period Urns
About the Item
A stunning and extremely high quality pair of French 19th century Louis XVI st. Belle Époque period Rouge Griotte marble and ormolu urns, signed Ferdinand Barbedienne. Each most impressive urn is raised by a circular Rouge Griotte marble base with a fine stepped mottled design. The ormolu socle shaped pedestal supports display detailed wrap around foliate bands and elegant fluted designs. The uniquely shaped solid Rouge Griotte marble bodies above are encased in striking foliate ormolu mounts and display stunning richly chased swaging floral garlands, smooth central cabochons and large palmettes. At each side are intricately detailed masks of beautiful maidens with luxuriantly scrolled handles leading upwards and centering the slender necks. The necks display additional charming scrolled foliate designs with beautiful striking flared tops with richly chased acorn finials at the tops.
