Pair of French 19th Century Louis XVI St. Brèche Violette Marble and Ormolu Urns
About the Item
A beautiful pair of French 19th century Louis XVI st. Brèche Violette marble and ormolu urns. Each urn is raised by fine circular fluted mottled ormolu feet below a rectangular Brèche Violette marble base with a charming finely detailed wrap around tied berried laurel base and the socle shaped pedestal support. The beautifully shaped body is encased by lovely foliate designs and displays an exceptional and most decorative pierced fitted wrap around ormolu band with striking Rinceau shaped scrolled foliate designs with acanthus leaves and charming blooming flowers with exceptional richly chased rams heads at each side. Above the elegantly curved neck is a fine reeded rap around ormolu band and fixed lid centered by a beautiful berried foliate ormolu finial. All original gilt throughout.
