About the Item

A set of 2 unique vases which comes from a series of ceramic vases designed in a project named ‘The Memphis Design Group’ by Ettore Sottsass, Mendini and Guerriero, among others. The series includes 30 vases, each designed by one of Italy’s most famous artists. Rare to find. Ugo Nespolo is born in 1941 in Mosso Italy and is an Italian artist. Painter, sculptor, film-maker, journalist. Irony and play are how he expresses his creative eclectic language, rich in cultural references. He lives and works in Turin. His career as an artist started in the 1960s and his work was influenced by Pop Art, which was becoming popular in Italy in those years, conceptual art, Arte Povera and Fluxus. He met and appreciated these movements during his frequent trips to the United States. The vase he designed is the nr 002 from the collection. Riccardo Dalisi is an architect, born in Potenza in 1931, he teaches Architectural Planning, Industrial Design and is the Director of the Institute of Industrial Design at the University of Naples, Federico II. He was one of the founders of the Global Tool Group and of an experimental school of craftsmanship called Arti minime. In 1975 he started working as a designer and collaborated with companies such as Baleri and Zanotta and he worked also for Alessi. Riccardo was awarded the Compasso d’Oro prize in 1981. He published several books including, L’Architettura della imprevedibilità (1970), La caffettiera di Pulcinella(1987), Progettare senza pensare (1998). The vase signed with Dalisi is of course from Riccardo’s hand is the nr 007 from the collection. Both vases in very good condition, on minor mini small chip is from the nr 007 vase on the foot.
