Japanese Old Vase with Lid / Late 19th Century

About the Item

This is a woven bamboo basket made in Japan during the Meiji to Taisho eras (1868-1920). It is a vase that imitates the shape. It was hung on the wall or placed on a table to decorate with flowers. It's old soot, so it won't stick to your hands if you touch it. Very cool. Also, the water cylinder is old, so it will stain a little when you put water in it. If you want to decorate flowers, it is recommended to put water in another container and put it in this vase. The item is in good overall condition and is hard to find.

  • Japanese Old Small Pottery Vase / Wabi Sabi Flower Vase
    Located in Sammu-shi, Chiba
Since ancient times, people have created and passed down necessary tools from familiar materials to survive in the severe struggle against nature, and have nurtured a lifestyle culture. By using these objects over a long period of time, they accumulate their flavor and reflect the way of life. The more severe the natural environment and the weaker we are, the stronger their power becomes. In today's world, where cheap and disposable products are encouraged, the act of repeatedly re-creating the things around us by modifying them opens up a new world. With this philosophy in mind, we collect beautiful, powerful, unique, and carefully selected antique objects from Japan. This is an old small Pottery vase...

A rare Meiji period 1868-1912 iron and mixed metal panel by a highly important early Meiji period artist. The ironwork panel housed within its original hardwood frame depicts the charming subject of a roaster fighting with snake, this particular early Meiji period panel demonstrates all the skills of a leading Mito school metalworker more used to making tsuba and sword fittings for the shogunate and now adapting his unique skills to satisfy the emerging western market, the naive charm and inspiration for this study is probably from an earlier Japanese or even Chinese painting, artists with such breathtaking metalworking skills as this artist could simply replace an artists paintbrush...
