Pair Chinese Export Porcelain Vases and Covers, c. 1775

About the Item

A fine pair of Chinese Export porcelain vases and covers. Dating from the third quarter of the 1700s, and originating in the Jingdezhen region of China, near the important China Trade port of Canton. The vases in a fluid baluster form, with intricate painted scenes of Mandarin Chinese in an outdoor garden setting. Each scene with detailed brushwork & gilt accents, and framed by a floral band against fields of grouped flowers in underglaze blue. The lids with similar underglaze floral decoration & borders, and featuring a pair of monochrome landscape vignettes on opposite sides. Each lid with finial formed as a Chinese Foo dog.
