TWO Georgian Hand Blown Wine Glasses Bristol Green with Tulip Bowl, circa 1790

About the Item

These are two ( very close pair) of good English wine glasses, hand blown, Bristol Green, lead glass, from the late 18th century, George 111rd period, circa 1790. Each glass has a drawn tulip bowl which gradually tapers to form a plain solid stem, over a conical foot with a good snapped off pontil to the underside. Bristol green drinking glasses were made in a large variety of shades and are virtually impossible to match unless they were made as part of a set at the same time, by the same glass blower. These two glasses are very similar with the same bowl shape and green color shade. The taper of the bowl into the stem varies slightly and the slightly larger glass has a more conical foot shape. Dimensions in inches: Larger glass: Height: 4.96, rim diameter 2.44, foot diameter 2.68 Slightly smaller glass: Height: 4.9 , rim diameter 2.38, foot diameter 2.64 The glasses have the usual striations, tiny grit inclusions and tiny air bubbles you would expect to see in 18th century glass, which gives these glasses their unique charm, and makes every glass different. Condition: Very good, no damage.
