Exceptional French Silver & Daum Glass Wine Ewer / Claret Jug, France Circa 1900

About the Item

The flattened ovoid glass body having a partially textured surface decorated with etched thistle motifs highlighted in gilt detail, the remaining clear area decorated with textured motifs of the cross of Lorraine outlined in gilt. The neck fitted with a silver collar & hinged spout-cover affixed to a foliate inspired handle, all bearing 1st standard silver marks (.950 fine) and makers marks. The glass body is most certainly by Daum, however the gilt signature has apparently been rubbed.
