    An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Dutch silver straight flatware service for eight persons; an addition to our canteen of cutlery collection. The pieces of this exceptional antique Dutch silver canteen of cutlery for 8 persons have been crafted in a plain rounded form, reflecting the Classic Old English pattern. The anterior surface of each fork and spoon handle features a pip to the terminal. This canteen of cutlery for 8 consists of 40 pieces: Basic service: Eight table forks Eight table spoons Eight dessert forks Eight dessert spoons Additional pieces: Pair of serving spoons Pair of serving ladles Pair of sauce ladles Soup ladle Serving fork The Dutch hallmarks struck to the dessert service and majority of the ladles include: Maker's mark: GZ - Gerritsen N.V. Ned. Silver quality/purity mark: Lion Passant mark with 2nd standard purity .833, 833/1000. The anterior and posterior surfaces of each rococo inspired, King's shape handle are embellished with scrolling leaf ornamentation. The decoration to the anterior of each handle terminal incorporates a contemporary bright cut engraved crest depicting out of a mural crown a spear in pale and two palm branches in saltire**. The heel and shoulders of each piece are embellished with further scrolling decoration. The reverse surface of each handle is ornamented with a contemporary bright cut engraved crest; each crest shows signs of wear in keeping with age, and could be erased upon request.
