Stephen Smith Antique Victorian Pair of Sterling Silver Gilt Goblets

About the Item

These exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver gilt goblets have a bell shaped form supported by a plain knopped pedestal to a circular spreading foot. The surface of these Victorian goblets are embellished with chased bands of floral and foliate ornamentation on a matte background, all above a stylized scalloped borders. The ornamentation to the body of each goblet incorporates a large fleur-de-lis style scrolling leaf motif to either side. The plain circular foot of each impressive piece of Victorian silverware bears the contemporary bright cut engraved crest of a flag/vexillum above the motto 'Vexillum Reddit Honores' - Vexillum/flag reflects honors and the initials 'HIR'. Each goblet retains the original gilding. Condition These antique Victorian goblets are an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The chased ornamentation to each goblet is all very sharp and the bright cut engraved details are very crisp. The original gilding has some wear in keeping with age. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of each goblet are all very clear. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of each Victorian goblet.
