About the Item

A wonderful, powerful, rivetting work by Japanese American, California architectural/post-modern potter and artist Kazuko Matthews. Quite heavy and substantial. Truly eye-catching. The work is signed on the base by Kazuko. Would make for a nice addition to any setting, modern or otherwise. A truly unique and one-of-a-kind work. Mathews previously studied with famed ceramists couple Otto and Vivia Heino at Chouinard and also with Raku master potter Paul Soldner at Scripps College. Her work can be found in numerous collections and museums including: Los Angeles County Museum of Art, CA Oakland Museum of California, CA Marer Collection of Contemporary Ceramics, Scripps College, Claremont, CA The Smithsonian American Art Museum The Renwick Gallery, Permanent Collection.
